Scouting is about raising young men to be self‑sufficient, hard‑working, and civic‑minded leaders. At Troop 48, the boys run the show. It’s their program, their troop, their ideas. Adult leaders are there for guidance, logistics, and safety — not to take over.

And yes, we have a lot of fun along the way:

  • We camp nearly one weekend every month and go on unique outings like the St. Louis City Museum, Activate Games, zip lining, snow tubing, the Harley‑Davidson Museum, and plenty more
  • We spend a full week at Summer Camp in late June
  • Every couple of years we go on High Adventure trips — ATV riding in West Virginia, living aboard a sailboat in the Florida Keys, and other once‑in‑a‑lifetime experiences
  • We kick off the school year at the Sugar Grove Family Fun Center and host a Christmas Cabin Campout packed with video games, board games, and nonstop fun
  • We learn merit badges like Archery, Shotgun, Swimming, Lifesaving, Metalworking, Communications, and Horsemanship
  • We practice classic Scout skills like knots, fire building, and outdoor safety
  • Sounds a little more exciting than sitting in your room playing the same video games every day. (Don’t worry — we like video games too. We just think everyone needs a change of scenery once in a while.)

We’re looking for boys ages 11–15 who want to check us out. We’re also welcoming parents who don’t mind hanging out with us while we supervise a bunch of teenage boys acting like… well, teenage boys.
